Wills and Legacies
At the Law Office of Heng A. Chen PLLC, we understand the sensitive nature of estate-planning, legacies, and wills. However, we also know that it is important to protect not only our assets, but also our families.
Estate Planning
The four fundamental estate-planning documents are:
(1) the last will, which provides the instructions for how your assets should be distributed after your death
(2) the living will, which is a declaration of what medical treatments you allow in case you are incapacitated
(3) a health care proxy, which gives a person the authority to make medical decisions on your behalf - ideally he or she is willing to carry out the directions in your living will
(4) a durable power of attorney, which gives a person the authority to manage your money while you are still alive but incapacitated

An executor is the person or bank/trust company that is named in a will to carry out the specifications of the will after the individual has passed away.
